The LaMPPMin
Brazil is one of the leading mining countries in the world. It stands out historically for the quantity and quality of the mineral goods (metallic or not) produced. Driven by strong global demand for mineral goods, the Brazilian mining industry is experiencing a moment of remarkable expansion. Mining is, admittedly, one of the most important productive sectors for the country. Such scenario is not different for the state of Goiás, being that it occupies the 3rd position in the ranking of mining states.
With the general aim of guaranteeing the formation of highly qualified Mining Engineers, full citizens able to contribute to the growth of society, with technological sciences that allow them to analyze, diagnose, design and execute mining industry undertakings committed to sustainable development, with the respect of its principles, culture, history, ethical and moral values, the Mining Engineering course of the Federal University of Goiás, Regional Catalão, was created in 2008 to meet the demand of this professional.
In this context, it is necessary to install specific laboratories to meet the demands of the course, being the practice of paramount importance for teacher training in undergraduate disciplines, as well as in research, development and innovation. The Laboratory for Modeling and Research in Mineral Processing (LaMPPMin) was created in the second half of 2013, in order to meet the demand for infrastructure to carry out research in the area of Mineral Processing at FENG / RC / UFG.
Currently, LaMPPMin serves all the disciplines of the Mineral Treatment line of the undergraduate course in Mining Engineering (6), eight (8) disciplines of the Specialization Course in Mineral Treatment (currently in the opening phase of the 6th class) and two (2) disciplines of the Professional Masters in Organizational Management and the PhD in Science and Technology.
